What the map shows
Green outlines show conservation area boundaries. Dashed amber outlines show Article 4 direction areas where some permitted development rights are removed. Blue dots mark listed buildings within 250 m of your pin, and dashed rings show 100 m, 250 m and 500 m from it.
Where the boundaries come from
Boundaries come from planning.data.gov.uk, which collects data from local planning authorities and Historic England. Coverage is still growing, and some councils publish their maps only on their own websites. If an area you expect is missing, check your council's conservation pages.
Browse by council
Every published conservation area also has its own page with a boundary map, listed by council. Use the area pages to compare neighbouring areas or share a link with a builder.
Questions
Is this the official conservation area map?
No. It shows the official open data, but your local planning authority holds the definitive boundary. Use the map to know where to look, then confirm with the council.
Why does the map not show my area?
Some councils have not yet published their boundaries to the national dataset. A missing boundary is not proof that there is no conservation area.
Can I see the whole country at once?
Search any postcode, then zoom out. Each boundary loads with the check so the map stays fast and clear.
